Community Tisha B'Av 5784

Tisha B'Av, the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av, marks the destruction of the First and Second Temples, as well as a variety of other tragedies throughout Jewish history.  Like Yom Kippur, Tisha B'Av is a full 25-hour fast day.  This special service contains the recitation of somber melodies, the chanting of the Book of Lamentations, and other liturgical poems.  Our evening will begin with mincha at 8:15pm.

Rabbi Yoni Dahlen will then lead us in discussing, "The Seeds in the Ruins: Finding Strength and Hope after Tragedy," which will be followed by Maariv and the chanting of Lamentations (Eicha).

Congregation Shaarey Zedek is proud to host Adat Shalom, Beth Ahm, Beth Shalom, B'nai Israel, B'nai Moshe, and the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue to begin the observance of the day.
