Tanya Gersh - Triumph of Her Will
Sunday, March 21, 2021 • 8 Nisan 5781
7:00 PM - 8:30 PMVia ZoomThe founder of a major neo-Nazi website orchestrated a harassment campaign launching a troll storm relentlessly terrorizing Tanya Gersh and her family with anti-semitic threats and messages for months. The threats took an emotional, physical, social, financial, and professional toll on Tanya and her family but Tanya fought back. The Southern Poverty Law Center filed suit in federal court on behalf of Tanya, winning a more than $14 million judgement against the neo-Nazi leader and shut them down. Tanya’s ground breaking case sends a message to extremists and others who spread hate: direct threats are considered acts of terrorism. This will not be tolerated, and there will be serious consequences for those who terrorize—whether online, by phone or in person. Spreading hate is not free speech and participants will be held liable for the consequences of their actions. Tanya won’t let being a victim define her. Her courage and strength to not let hate win, and to assure this never happens again, is a message she has become passionate about sharing. The lawsuit is over, but her work has just begun.

Join B'nai Moshe Sisterhood for a virtual event to support Torah Fund on Sunday, April 18 from 11am - 12:30pm. The event will include Rabbi Michael Ungar reflecting on his time at the Jewish Theological Seminary and the support he received from Torah Fund. Also included is a text based discussion of the mind/body/spirit connection and a 30-minute workout with a Jewish Twist including exercise options that allow everyone to participate. After 25 years as a congregational rabbi, Michael followed his passion for fitness training and became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2018. The cost is an $18 contribution to JTS and includes a free session to one of Rabbi Ungar's online fitness classes. B'nai Moshe donors to Torah Fund at the Benefactor Level ($180) or higher may attend free of charge and will receive the distinctive 2020-2021 Torah Fund pin, which honors the theme "B'Yachad" meaning "together." It signifies the joy of Sisterhood members working together year-round to make important contributions to the Jewish community through their volunteer efforts.
