Special Shabbat Evening Veteran's Day Service

Synagogue Offers Free Membership to Servicemen

At its annual Veteran’s Day program, Congregation B’nai Moshe announced its new policy of offering free membership to active duty Jewish servicemen (including reservists called to active service) for the period of their service plus the following year. This is being done to recognize the personal and financial sacrifices that they make.

This announcement was made before 100 people who had come together on Novermber 10 for a special Shabbat evening service led by Rabbi Elliot Pachter and Cantor Earl Berris and dinner provided by Elite Kosher Catering. Participants included veterans from the World War II, Korean, Cold War, and Viet Nam eras, as well as veterans from other countries, including Israel, Canada, and Czechoslovakia. Also in attendance were the veteran’s families, spouses of deceased veterans, and supporters.

Sid Kraizman served as chair of this annual event, which is sponsored by the B’nai Moshe Men’s Club.

The pictures below were taken before the service; the montage at the bottom consists of pictures of some of the veterans as they were years ago.
