Congregation B'nai Moshe families participated in an Oct. 16 Sukkot program, "How Do You Make a Lulav Shake,"
where they made sukkah decorations and enjoyed ice cream shakes. Hard at work are Audrey Goldstein, 9, and
Hannah Fine, 10, both of West Bloomfield; Leah Taub, 7, of Farmington Hills; teacher Marilynn Yarbrough of
Huntington Woods, with her niece Olivia Litvin, 4, of Medina, Ohio, and her daughter Molly, 5.
The Men's Club of Congregation B'nai Moshe held a special Friday Kabbalat Shabbat service, program, and dinner in honor of Veterans Day. The Club hosted military veterans from the synagogue represented the armed forces of four countries and five wars. In addition to the veterans, their families, and friends, we were honored to have representatives from the Michigan Jewish War Veterans participate.
Several veterans shared memories of their military service including: the daily life of a soldier; how a Yiddish-speaking sergeant became commander of a German POW work crew in France; living as an American Jew in a German POW camp; and guarding the border in Berlin as the Berlin wall was being built.
