PITTSBURGH TRIP
Why are we going to Pittsburgh? That was what most of us wondered. We knew we wanted to get away, to enjoy the company of whomever joined us and why not, it should be fun. Those, who went, have decided it was the best of the three 3 day trips taken. Our own Steve Schwartz, a product of Pittsburgh, was our superb tour guide. We made it through the many Museums. At the Science center, most of us walked single file through a submarine. What an experience!
The first night we davened in a parking lot followed by a boat tour of the waterfront. The next morning we held services at the Conservative synagogue, Beth Shalom. The rabbi gave us a tour. In the afternoon, we toured the Reformed Temple, Rodef shalom and its biblical gardens. Time for evening minyan at a Conservative shul. The newest, smallest congregation so far. Held in what had formerly been a beautiful old private home. Three houses of worship, totally different. You have to see it for yourself!
Then, there was an amphibian “Duck” ride. If you hear some of us greet one another with, “Quack, Quack, Quack!”, you’ll know where we were. Susan Friedman, Sue Himelhoch, and Pearlena Bodzin each helped to steer the water portion of that journey. Of course, we had to ride that Duquesne Incline before we were “on the road again.”
Yes, we shopped. Yes, we ate. Yes, we were tired. But best of all we laughed and enjoyed very special memories. Here’s to next year!!!
