Shalom!
My name is Elisa Harwin and I am the Pitt CDC Family
Program Coordinator. My job is to plan
and coordinate all our Jewish Family Education Programs. Right now I am on
maternity leave, but will be back in the middle of October.
I am excited for a year of new and creative programs
to inspire you and your family. Although
many programs will be here at the Pitt CDC, some will be take home activities,
and others will be at Temple Kol Ami or Congregation B’nai Moshe who are both partners with the Jewish Community
Center. I look forward to making new
memories with all of you this year!
If you have any questions, suggestions or would like
to get involved, please call or e-mail me.
I’d love to hear from you!
B’Shalom,
Elisa

Avot 1:6
Rosh Hashanah celebrates the Jewish New Year. The beginning of the ten Days of Awe, or the
High Hoy Days, Rosh Hashanah is a time to reflect on the past year and to
prepare for the year ahead. When going
through all my Rosh Hashanah files and folders, I came across a poem that put
Rosh Hashanah in perspective for me.
Read it aloud to your family or read it quietly to yourself just enjoy
it and make your New Year your very best!
I am the New Year
(Anonymous)
I am the New Year.
I am unused, unspotted, without blemish,
I stretch before you three hundred
And sixty-five days long.
I will present each day
In its turn, a new leaf
In the book of life
For you to place upon
It your imprint.
I am the New Year.
Each hour of everyday, I will
Give you sixty minutes that
Have never known the use of man.
White and pure I present them;
It remains for you to fill them
With sixty jeweled seconds of
Love, hope, endeavor, patience
And trust in G-d.
I am the New Year.
I am coming –
But once past, I can
Never be recalled
Make me your best!
