Elliot Pachter has been the Rabbi of Congregation B'nai Moshe since 1992, the same year we moved into our newest building in West Bloomfield. During the years of Rabbi Pachter's leadership, our membership has grown in size, and our building has been expanded to include a school wing and chapel. Under Rabbi Pachter's guidance, our synagogue's education programs for children, adults and families were created and blossomed.
Rabbi Pachter is active in the Jewish community, as an instructor at Hillel Day School and the Jewish Academy of Metropolitan Detroit, a leader of the Michigan Board of Rabbis and the Michigan Region of the Rabbinical Assembly, and a member of the board of numerous organizations and federation committees. He is a regular visitor to the pre-school of the Jewish Community Center, where he is also a monthly instructor to the staff.
In our synagogue community, Rabbi Pachter is our leader and teacher at Shabbat and holiday services, a source of guidance and comfort at our life cycle events, and a role model of religious observance and family values. Rabbi Pachter and his wife, Naomi Weckstein, are the proud parents of Gabriel and Jonathan.
Rabbi Pachter is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a graduate of the University of Michigan, earning a B.A. in Hebrew language in 1981, and the Jewish Theological Seminary, earning an M.A. and Rabbinic Ordination in 1987. We were proud to dedicate the synagogue's Informational Alcove in his name on the occasion of celebrating his first ten years at B'nai Moshe.
