Music at B’nai Moshe

I would like to take this opportunity to bring you up to date on some of the music experiences which will be happening this year at B’nai Moshe. For the first time, we will be instituting a mixed choir which will be performing, occasionally, during Shabbat morning services and at other musical events. It is open to all adults and to young adults who are in high school or college. We will begin by be rehearsing one evening a week and participating in services about six Shabbatot this year.

To begin with, the choir will help to introduce new congregational melodies as well as inspire us with choir/choir and cantor music for the Musaf Service. If you are interested in singing and have not, as yet, received a call from a member of the music committee, don’t hesitate to contact Stacey Whelan, committee chair or me. We will have a Choir Social in early September to meet the members of the choir and distribute the music. The group will lead singing on Simchat Torah night.

This year’s Cabaret will be “An Evening with Marvin Hamlisch”.  If you are interested in participating in this annual show, whether on or off stage, give us a call. The date will be announced, shortly, but is generally during January or February. (By the way, we need a cute, P.R. name for the Cabaret and a director for the production, as well.)

When you read this message, I will have just lead our synagogue’s second Bus Getaway Vacation to Chicago. Read this column next month to hear about the great time we all had.
