Minyanaires and more …

Why I love the minyan

With the passing of my mother last year, I decided to go to B'nai Moshe instead of trying to have a daily morning minyan at my home.  I went the whole week and learned how to put on the tefillin which were belonged to Pearlena's grandfather and had been recently given to me.  Several of the 'regulars' including Seymour Unga and a few others taught me quickly and I became independent within a few days, although they do still slip down occasionally.  When the shiva week was over, I realized how much I enjoyed being part of the minyan and I decided to continue to participate in the minyan on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the days I don't have to be somewhere else at 7a.m.  I look forward to the services which are over by 8 a.m .and during which I can say Kaddish for my mom four times each morning when we have a minyan.  So far, we have only missed a minyan once, but that is once too many because that limits our ability to say Kaddish. I would encourage all who have any interest to come to minyan and enjoy the camaraderie and the excellent breakfasts that Seymour prepares for us daily.  Not only will you perform the mitzvah of tefillin, but you will help to make the minyan for the rest of us who are saying Kaddish.  You will double your mitzvah.

Minyanaire Menschen

Over the past few months the Ritual Committee has renewed a commitment to ensure that the evening minyan program remains vital.  We cannot do it without your help.  Volunteer minyan captains Kerry Greenhut, Annette Kaufman, Barry Kaufman, Brian Silver, Rachel Silver, Jonathan Tobes, Dan Weiner, Rabbi Pachter and Cantor Berris have been making calls to congregants with yahrzeits and also those without.  We want to express our appreciation to all of those individuals who continue to help make it possible to provide a minyan (ten people) for those wishing to say Kaddish.  Yasher Koach to the following recent evening minyanaires:

“Mitzvah & More” - The Answer to Lonely Evenings

Do you find you are lonely in the evening?  The answer may be “Minyan & More”.  This is a new program from the ritual committee to accomplish two goals.  The first is to make sure we have a viable minyan every evening.  The second is to provide an outreach program for our members who may find they are looking for the company of some others in the evenings.
